Aussi, bien souvent, pour lui, une image sans nom n'a pas d'histoire
et tombe vite à plat.
Les
oeuvres de LEMIEU sont prétextes à développer notre imaginaire afin
de compléter le récit amorcé.
Jean Lemieux was
born in Quebec City
in 1946. At the age of 9 years old, he was already attending the
Saturday Workshops of Fine Arts in Quebec City.
He graduated from
Laval
University
where he obtained a Bachelor degree in Graphic Communications.
Thereafter, he became a teacher of Illustration at the
School of Visual Arts of the same University. During the same period, he
started a silkscreen shop where he printed his own unique works for
more than fifteen years; he also printed many artworks from
highly-acclaimed artists.
Since 1997, he
devotes his art exclusively to watercolours and oil paintings on
canvas; he explores colour schemes from which we can see the
luminosity of the situation depicted.
A great lover of
the nature and of his own city, Québec, LEMIEU grasps part of the
places and individuals to describe them in particular situations.
For LEMIEU, an image without a title does not mean anything.
The artworks by
LEMIEU are subject to develop our own imagination to continue the
work initiated.
